Takiguchi Sightseeing Orchard
Takiguchi Sightseeing Orchard, located along Route...
Saito Sightseeing Orchard is located at the foot of Mount Zao, a mountain full of nature, and is ten minutes by car from Kaminoyama Onsen in Yamagata.
Here at the orchard, four types of fruits – cherries, apples, prunes, and a European pear called LaFrance – are grown organically and without chemical fertilizers in an environment full of nature with fresh air. The most recommended fruit amongst the four is Yamagata’s specialty, cherries.
Cultivated at the orchards are the representative cherry varieties: Sato Nishiki and Benishuho cherries. These cherries are manually pruned and raised with love so that they grow to become sweet.
Sato Nishiki cherries are in season around June 20th while Benishuho cherries are in season around the beginning of July. At Saito Sightseeing Orchard, it is recommended to eat cherries that were picked in the morning. That is because the difference in temperature during the night and morning causes the fruit to be firm and taste even better.
All-you-can-pick cherries (30 minutes) can be enjoyed at 1600 yen for adults and 800 yen for those older than three years but not yet in elementary school. It is free for children younger than three years old. Additionally, all-you-can-pick apples can be done from September to the end of November at 600 yen per person (both adults and children). Sweet, red apples that represent Japan such as Sekai Ichi, Kogyoku, and Fuji apples can be harvested during this time.
Kaminoyama, Yamagata, where Saito Sightseeing Orchard is located, is on sloped land. However, the orchard is located in an area with relatively gentle slopes. Children, the elderly, and those who have physical disabilities can rest assured and enjoy fruit picking.
Please take these seasonal fruits that were raised with great care at Saito Sightseeing Orchard in your hands and taste fruit that has been freshly picked.
