Marue Orchard
Marue Orchard from Fukushima Prefecture is well-kn...
Located one highway and approximately 20 minutes away from JR Fukushima Station is Michinoku Tourist Fruit Land. The orchard cultivates fruits such as peaches, Fukushima’s specialty, as well as cherries, Japanese pears, and apples.
Peaches are recommended at Michinoku Tourist Fruit Land. The orchard cultivates a total of 63 peach varieties including Akatsuki, a representative peach variety of Fukushima, Chiyomaru, Gyosei, and Nishio Gold peaches. As a result, the period in which you can pick peaches is very long and can be enjoyed from the end of June to October.
Peach picking can be enjoyed for 30 minutes at 1400 yen for adults (junior high school and older) and 1080 yen for children (elementary school and younger). Chemical fertilizers are not used at all at Michinoku Tourist Fruit Land. Their fertilizer is perfected using seaweed and fish that are dried and then powdered into fish meal.
The abundance of minerals contained in seaweed and fish meal enhances the sweetness of the peaches. You can enjoy a flavor that is different from other peaches grown with chemical fertilizers as the flavor becomes stronger and stays fresh for a long time.
Additionally, due to the fruit being cultivated on sloping land, its roots do not rot even during the rainy season. Tree restoration is also improved by the maintenance of a water cycle.
Like this, Michinoku Tourist Fruit Land has devoted themselves to various innovative cultivation methods, growing fruits that are sweet and delicious.
Do you know what the best way to eat peaches is?
We cannot say that peaches should be eaten the day they are harvested due to each person’s different preferences in firmness. Store peaches at room temperature until they become your preferred firmness, then chill them in the refrigerator 30 minutes before eating. By doing so, the fragrance and flavor of the peach will increase.
Peaches also pair perfectly with meat dishes! It is recommended that peaches be roasted together with meat and then placed on top of salad to eat. Please have your fill of fresh, delicious fruit at Michinoku Tourist Fruit Land.
