Farm Name Wakatake no Mori - Wakayama Farm
Farm Information This farm is located in Utsunomiya, a region in the north of the Kanto Plain with the Nikko mountains in the background. The farm owns about 24 ha of land. Run by the same family for three generations, Wakayama Farm believes that "good agriculture means good land." The farm has been producing bamboo, bamboo shoots, chestnuts, and blueberries. To ensure the production of delicious bamboo shoots, the bamboo grove undergoes thinning in the winter, so that the soil is kept soft. As a result, the bamboo shoots are soft and tasty. The chestnuts are grown through natural methods and have a full-bodied, standard taste. The blueberries are grown in a soil sprinkled with bamboo chips, which makes them very flavorful.
Admission Fee April - May: Bamboo shoot picking: entry fee 500 yen + 1 kg 1,000 yen (payment is done for the quantity you've picked)
25July - 31August: Berry picking: entry fee 500 yen+500 yen (for one 200 g pack of berries and tasting)
01Sep. - 20Oct.: Chestnut picking: entry fee 500 yen+ 1,500 yen (for a box containing 1 kg of chestnuts)
*Depending on the degree of ripeness, the period might differ.
*The entry fee is the same as for a walk in the bamboo grove.

Access from the Station Take the local bus (Kanto bus) and get off at Nozawatera-mae bus stop. It's a 30-minute ride. The farm is approx. 700 m away from the bus stop.
Access by Car Tohoku Expressway - Nikko Road; 5 minutes from Utsunomiya IC in the direction of Utsunomiya City.
