Usami Farm
Usami Farm, located in Shizuoka prefecture’s Ito c...
Japan Berry, located in Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is the largest tourist farm in Japan. As the name suggests, the farm specializes in strawberries. Cultivars such as “Akihime” and “Beni Hoppe,” both special products of Shizuoka, “Kaorino,” which has a refreshing, sweet taste, and “Kirapika,” the latest Japanese brand as of February, 2018, can all be tasted at this farm.
The strawberries are spread out over the grounds, which is as large as three soccer fields combined. Visitors can enjoy the sight and fragrance of the strawberries, along with their taste.
Thanks to its scale, you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat strawberry picking without reservations at this farm. The season is from January 2nd to June 30th. The forty-minute time limit should be enough to satisfy your appetite. Groups can apply for a ten percent discount with a reservation in advance.
The farm lovingly cultivates the strawberries, employing the latest technology to improve its taste.
One of the employed technologies is hydroponics. The fruit is suspended in the air during the cultivation, and benefit from the reduced agrochemicals. Both the greenhouse temperature and the agrochemicals are controlled by computers.
The warm climate of Fujieda City is perfect for the cultivation of strawberries, and the use of technology makes the fruit taste better. If you have the chance to visit Fujieda, drop by Japan Berry to sample the delicious strawberries.
