Yunoko Fukuda Farm, located at Minamata City in Kumamoto Prefecture, started sixty years ago in the hope of attracting visitors to Minamata.
Spanish-style buildings line up along the fields, creating a cheerful atmosphere. Inside the building, there are shops handling jam and juice made from the citrus fruits cultivated in the farm, and Spanish seafood restaurants. Visitors can spend a whole day at this farm.
At this farm, visitors can pick oranges. It is said that Fukuda Farm was the first to host an orange picking tour in Kumamoto Prefecture.
From late-October to late-December, visitors can enjoy the Unlimited time, all-you-can-eat orange picking tour. If you have the chance, try the flavorsome oranges cultivated with sunshine and sea breeze.
The charge is 400 yen for adults (over the age of Junior High School students), 300 yen for children (Elementary School age) and 200 yen for infants (over three years of age). An additional fee (300 yen per kilogram) will be charged if you wish to take the oranges home.
Mr. Fukuda, the farm owner said, “A tourist farm is a unique Japanese system. Please visit us, and enjoy our farm.” He hopes that this system, where the farmers can actually meet the consumers, spreads to other countries as well.
