Iwafune Fruit Park is a popular spot visited by many tour groups from overseas. There are 14 consecutive greenhouses with 77 greenhouses in total where tochiotome, sky berries, and other varieties of strawberries are grown and sold. When it comes to strawberry picking, here you can not only pick tochiotome strawberries, but also the brand name sky berries that Tochigi prefecture is known for, in an all-you-can-eat pick-a-thon! Being able to eat as many sky berries as you like is quite unusual, as they were only just put on the market in 2011. But, thanks to the efforts of the leading figures behind the cultivation and development of the tochiotome strawberries, it was possible for the new sky berries to be developed and raised en masse as well.
Fruits and vegetables are of course available for purchase within the park, as are sweets, breads, and even gelato made with the fruits too. Being able to taste the flavors of Tochigi fruits is just one of the many attractive points of Iwafune Fruit Park.
In addition to strawberries, you can also enjoy picking fruits such as tomatoes, blueberries, grapes and pears throughout the year.
Many satisfied customers have said: “It’s great to be able to buy delicious, fresh fruits for such a reasonable price, and being able to eat them to your heart’s content is amazing. They’re so different from what you can usually find in stores!”
Due to language barriers, those wishing to make reservations for this tour are required to have a Japanese speaker accompany them. Advance reservations are required either by phone or online for strawberry picking tours.
